There are seven specific smells that mosquitoes have been documented to hate strongly enough that researchers at the CDC, the USDA, and at least three major American university entomology departments have published peer-reviewed papers on them. The compounds are sold legally at every drugstore, health food store, and grocery store in the country for less than ten dollars total.
