My mom used to grow a huge garden in the summer. Although she was a public school teacher and didn't work her school job during the summer, she worked in the garden far more than I could ever manage. She did everything from using a hand-steered gas tiller to applying insecticide, and she would often drag the garden hose around to hook up the waterers. She canned tomatoes and green beans.
